Concentration Statement

My concentration follows the progression of women through the decades, beginning in the early 1900s. It shows the stereotypes and gender roles of women as they went through their daily lives. The photos will be in black and white with selective color, increasing in color as women gain more freedoms in society. I will end the concentration with a self portrait to show that I am only here today because of the women before me. This is important to me as a woman in the 21st century because I am only able to be who I am, to be able to vote, live on my own, not be defined by a man because of the women that fought for their children and grandchildren, me.

Weekly Challenge 8

This challenge was an opposite media/ type of work. I chose architecture and did a rough outline of my dream house. The first floor is to scale where 1 inch is 4 feet. The second floor isn't as much to scale.

Silk Painting

This is my silk painting of the Philadelphia skyline. I would give this a 4/5 because the gradient ended up really strong but the craftsmanship needs a little bit of work. In photoshop I cleaned up the resist lines and the gradient a little bit. I plan to drop a little more color with salt to improve the gradient of the skyline.

More Art From Summer

Another ghost image with my beautiful ballerina friend.
I wanted to create the idea that she is floating away on a balloon in a field.

Weekly Challenge 1. Artist Emulation: Cole Thompson. This was my first experimentation with HDR. These are trees near my house and a beautiful set of clouds.

Summer Art

Summer Art. My beautiful ballerina friend posed for me in front of a black sheet and danced for me. I stood above her on a ladder for the B&W and for the ghost image, I used an extended shutter speed.
